Weekend Wants, Needs & Finds

WANT.  The farmer's daughter t-shirt from Fred Flare.  This is the perfect beach/pool coverup to just really throw people for a loop...and I'm into that.

NEED: This rustic wooden beer cooler is so cool!  Literally!  It keeps your beer cool (or anything else you might need) while looking sleek.  Make no mistakes confusing your beer with someone else's due to the generic plastic container issue.  Your beer is covered in style.

FIND:  Tire art.  Brilliant.  Beautiful.

WANT:  These hand carved candles made in Bali called Volcanica Candles are like individual works of art!  They are designed to burn inward so the design on the outside is  never lost!  I'm in love.

NEED:  This Dreamweaver tank is so unique and fun.  I would wear this during day or night with anything from jeans to white pants to shorts.

FIND:  There is a new creperie opening next to Woodland Park where Six Sisters used to be and I am SO excited to go there.  There is nothing like a nutella and banana crepe and coffee on a Saturday.

WANT:  Cotton candy.  The end.

NEED:  I need a monogrammed necklace to put on my little kitten Tom because collars are overrated.

Die hard

Warning.  Splurge alert.

Let me preface this post by saying I am a die hard Mary Kate & Ashley fan.  You want to know how die hard?  I wished for a twin sister every time I blew a dandelion in my grandparents field on walks after school when I was young.  I could quote every line from Billboard Dad.  I watched every episode of So Little Time when they got older.  When Mary Kate had the eating issue, I was there for her!  When I was on a subway with their younger sister Elizabeth last summer in Brooklyn I couldn't speak.  My male friend I was with thought I was going to pass out not knowing what the heck was going on.  So, needless to say, I have been helplessly, head over heels for their brands The Row and Elizabeth & James since their conceptions.  Just this week, the duo launched their handbag line hosted by InStyle in L.A.  Swoon.  These ladies know a classic handbag.  Here is a picture at the event and pictures some of the handbags in the collection found at Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.

This weekend

Why don't you go see...

I know...
Judge me as you will but I really do want to see The Bling Ring a movie featuring the real life series of burglaries that occurred in many Hollywood stars homes, such as Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom and Lindsay Lohan, written and produced by the incredible Sofia Coppola.  Coppola is not new to controversial plots and she always manages to create fantastical characters with beautifully styled clothes and tastefully chosen music tracks.  Thus, I'm excited.  Plus, Emma Watson is breaking out of Hermoine's robes, yet again this year after Perks of Being a Wallflower, in her part as Alexis Neier's, the wild and crazy party girl.  Let's see what this up and coming actress has got!

KY love

One of our favorite bloggers Aimee Song, of the blog Song of Style, came to Kentucky this past weekend and blogged about her trip!  We're happy to hear she loved Kentucky just as much as we love it!  Check out her blog post here.

Yayayayayayay!

CONGRATS!  To our lovely store manager in Lexington, the soon to be Mrs. Mattingly!  Just yesterday Paige got engaged to her long time beau Kevin while on a family vacation in Florida.  Word has it, he popped the question by giving her monogrammed cupcakes with a "M" for Mattingly on it.  Yum!  We could not be happier for her and can't wait to hear about the wedding plans and festivities!  Your ring is beautiful, Paige!

P.S.  In the above picture Paige is in a Bluetique dress found here!

Bloggin'

We love blogs and have a few of our own that we follow and get inspiration from when writing our own posts.  The coolest thing is when we can collaborate with other bloggers we love to share our products with a wider audience.  Here are two bloggers we absolutely adore who just recently styled & wore Bluetique products when out & about!

Rhode Island or Asia?

When my mom asked me if I wanted to go to Rhode Island a month ago for a flower show I was very dubious.  I think flowers are beautiful and I'm a big fan of white roses when they're in full bloom but I don't know about a weekend dedicated to just...flowers.  I love my mother dearly (Hi, mom!) so, naturally, I said yes.  At the time, I had no idea what I was signing up for.  The Garden Club of America's annual garden show in Newport, Rhode Island is an actual trip- metaphorically and literally.  Each year women around the U.S. travel to Newport for a flower competition worthy of a t.v. show featuring a cocktail party worthy of Jay Gatsby.  The casts of the competition ranged from succulents to hydrangeas with some selective incredibly challenging competitions which involved making samurai swords sheerly out of plant and flower parts.  These women are so incredibly creative!  I guess first off I need to explain that the theme of this years show was Jade: Eastern Obsessions.  The hosts did not disappoint!  The opening night cocktail party included a dragon, a gong, ladies dancing in life size flower pots, specialty drinks and lots and lots of thai noodles.  Upon seeing some other the other Newport socialites' Asian inspired apparel I regretted my outfit decision for a millisecond but as the night wore on I became extremely content in my comfortable Bluetique floral dress and blazer.  I was ready to go all night!  So, while this trip may not sufficiently cure my travel bug, this definitely weaned off the urgent desire to travel overseas.  There is nothing like eating delicious thai noodles and being able to wake up and step in some all-American sand in the morning.  During the trip, we also go to to take a day & night to check out Providence, RI.  Prodivence is a very cool, artsy city with a lot going on downtown and several college campuses such as Rhode Island School of Design and Brown University to boot.  We really enjoyed eating some unique cuisine that isn't offered as liberally in Lexington such as Mediterranean and Ethiopean.  There's nothing like having a full day with no plans to explore a city at your leisure.  Here are some candids from the weekend :)

The coast by the cliff walk was so gorgeous on Saturday afternoon.

The Japanese teahouse on the cliffs off of the Marble House on Bellevue Ave.

A geisha at the cocktail party.

Gorgeous roses adorning the outside of Rosecliff.

Such a show!

The gorgeous venue overlooked the ocean with vendors selling everything from antique prints to horse riding boots.

So many beautiful flowers make for stiff competition!

My first Ethiopian meal in Providence was...an experience!

Oolong tea.

Serious packing for some serious traveling.

A beer at a local pub in Newport was necessary after a long day of gallery hopping and beaching.

I tried my first raw oyster!  Note the oysters rockefeller waiting in the background as back up. Haha.

Reads on the beach.

Not a lot of waves for this kind of action.

Details of the party.

The fern competition.  I'm a sucker for tall ceilings and big windows.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame was filled with immaculately manicured grass courts for the public to enjoy in the warmer months.

Goodbye Providence!

The Everly floral & flirty bow dress with a white blazer & vintage Gucci clutch.

The Everly sugar & spice dress with Converses, Ray Bans & an army jacket at the Hall of Fame!

Overlooking the dock outside our hotel bidding adieu to Newport.
Until next time, Rhode Island!
