Eat, Drink and be Merry

A couple months ago, I shared a video from Rick Mereki and his travels across eleven countries equaling 38,000 miles (#Swoon). The point of the video being MOVE. On this journey he also documented the cuisine (#Eeeeeeats) from the 44 day adventure. He made it into a video and I must say, it's ahmazing. If you love food, you'll love this video and it's the perfect time of year to get creative in the kitchen. So get inspired, y'all! I'll be sharing more of Mereki's videos soon...they're all so wonderful! Until then, enjoy and happy hump day.

Don't all of these dishes look heavenly?! I think so, too.

The Endless Summer

Picture this: Palm trees swaying in the breeze, blue skies and Lana Del Rey serenading you through the morning beats of waves on the shore. Pretty perfect, huh? I think so, too. We just got back from our annual mid-March beach getaway and I must say, it may have been the best vacation ever. The weather was, well, wonderful and the company...even better. Looking back on it now, it seems like a dream and a world away..don't you wish you could stay forever? I do. I think vacations are the perfect time to be you and let loose and really connect with yourself. After all, you are laying poolside all day and you have to think about something. I often found my thoughts flowing with the wind as well as racing with thoughts about the adventure I was reading about at the time. A time to put things in perspective and enjoy every second of your life. So refreshing..vacating your life for a week! Now it's back to the grind and I'm excited for all that's still to happen this year..so much left to do and it's finally spring!! Below you'll find a few snapshots from our trip..I hope you enjoy them as much as we did.

Happy Friday, Y'all!

Good Vibrations

Happy Monday, y'all!! If you're in the south east you know how fabulous the weather was all last week and it even continued into the weekend..um can we say ahmazing?! Unfortunately I awoke today to find it about 21 degrees this morning, no bueno. But since all of that sunshine made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, I've decided to keep that mental state to get through this upcoming week of frigid temperatures. I can just pretend it's 50 plus by playing my summer playlist circa 2009 and cooking up some vegetable goodness on my grill pan. So that's the motto for this week, good vibes. Hope y'all decide to stick with positive minds this week because spring is truly just around the corner.

keep on keepin' on, y'all.

Fun(ny) Fashion!

People always ask me, "Whitney, what is your perspective on fashion and style?" Ok, so I have never, EVER been asked that. But, because I have daydreamed about being a stand-in for an unavailable female celebrity on talk shows and press junkets, I have an answer. It would simply be: don't take what you wear too seriously.

Don't get me wrong. I seriously love clothes. In fact, I like looking at clothes more than the process of putting an outfit together and actually dressing in them. That being said, I tend to dress for the mood that I'm in. So, if I was allowed, I could be found in a full sweatsuit decorated in Dorito crumbs on a daily basis. But because I do have to be seen in public occasionally, I like to dress in what makes me happy.

Come! Let's take a quick journey into my closet so I can show you some of my favorite endorphin-producing pieces...

Here's a lovely little number I think that every aspiring 90's female comic should have. It may look a little dated, but I swear that when paired with a cute, floral mini dress, it's *almost* on-trend. But if I do find myself feeling out of place while wearing "old goldie," I know that I can always turn to annoying my friends with attempts at observational stand up. I mean really...what's the deal with all of these Bigfoot shows?!  Wah, wah.

While these shirts aren't inherently funny, the fact that I own upwards of 8 (there's at least 3 in the wash and 2 more hiding somewhere on the floor), is kind of humorous. Simply referred to as "the big shirts" in the Bluetique office, these tops are a girl's best friend and we are all addicted. They're easy to layer and ridiculously soft and comfortable. They are a socially acceptable relative of the Snuggie. They are my fashion drug of choice, and there's no way I'm stopping at 8! (SPOILER ALERT: Bluetique will be stocked with these for Spring! We're talking pastel big shirts; striped big shirt; big shirts for days! So be on the lookout before I hoard them all!)

Lastly, we have this guy. He called to me one day from a rack at the Goodwill; mistakenly placed in the crocheted quilt section. No label. No tag. I think his creator was going for 80's Bill Cosby, and just kept going. He's big, bright, bulky, and loud. And I love him!

So there you have it. Thanks for taking this funny fashion journey with me. Keep it real. And keep it real fun!
