So if you've haven't seen the instagram of mom, Angie, you better hop on over and check it out. She creates the most adorable dresses made from paper for her little girl to wear. Her instagram account has become an overnight success..and we must say it's one of the most adorable things we've ever seen :)

By now you should know that I love projects! I enjoy being able to make the décor for my home, rather than buy it. This last project was a pallet shelf for our living room. Pallets are super useful, so far we have just made the wine rack and the shelf but I have 100+ projects for pallets lined up. Here was our inspiration… Thank you Pinterest!

Here’s how we made it…

Step 1: Start by finding a pallet in good condition. You want to make sure that the boards are not splitting. You’ll need about 15 boards to make one the same size as ours.

Step 2: Use a sawzall to cut through the nails and disassemble the pallet. You’ll want to do it this way to save yourself time and the headache of splitting boards.

Step 3: Once you have all the boards removed, make sure to remove the nails out of the boards. Sand the boards until smooth.

Step 4: once all boards are sanded, you can go ahead and stain or paint them and let them dry.

Step 5: Assemble! This part was a little difficult. You want to make sure you have someone to help you. Space out your boards about ¾ of an inch apart. Once we had our spacing we added two boards on the back (one across the top, and one across the bottom) to keep them in place and act as a structure frame.

Step 6: Add in your top and bottom shelf. Attach using small nails and wood glue.

Step 7: Go ahead and place your front 3 boards and nail in place. Once these are on, you can slide your middle shelf in and pick where you’d like to place it. Once in place, nail it in and voila! Pallet shelf!

Good Vibrations

Happy Monday, y'all!! If you're in the south east you know how fabulous the weather was all last week and it even continued into the weekend..um can we say ahmazing?! Unfortunately I awoke today to find it about 21 degrees this morning, no bueno. But since all of that sunshine made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, I've decided to keep that mental state to get through this upcoming week of frigid temperatures. I can just pretend it's 50 plus by playing my summer playlist circa 2009 and cooking up some vegetable goodness on my grill pan. So that's the motto for this week, good vibes. Hope y'all decide to stick with positive minds this week because spring is truly just around the corner.

44 Days, 38,000 Miles

A totally rad dude named Rick Mereki traveled the world to make this amazing one minute video. The point being: MOVE! It's a simple reminder to get out of your comfort zone and see what the world has to offer you. I hope it gives you a little weekend inspiration. Happy Friday, y'all

Painting With A Twist

Hello friendlies! My friend Martha and I spent Tuesday evening painting the night away and we had a ball. There's a place in Lexington where they teach you how to paint like the masters..oh yes, this is a real place. it's called Painting With A Twist and I heart this place. I was an Art History major and my gal, marge has a serious love for art as well, so this class was a real winner for the both of us! We got to recreate a Monet painting, I die. So here is a picture of one of the painting's from a series Monet created of his Japanese water bridge at his home in Giverny (fun fact!). 

Monet studied many of the same objects throughout the years and painted them at different times of the day as well as seasons, these paintings were known as his series (think-Waterlilies!). The image above is only one of many, they are all different and unique, which made this class even more exciting and fun, we were able to truly express ourselves artistically. I loved every second of it. 

When you arrive at Painting With A Twist the instructor hands you a blank canvas...can we say intimidating. Even though Martha and I have a love for the arts, we don't necessarily have a steady hand with a brush. The other girls in the class assured us that we would be fine and love our paintings at the end of class. they were right. The images below show the progress we made from a blank canvas to one full of life and color..hope you enjoy!

We know they're no Monet's but we were proud. I suggest you check them out if you're in Lexington, it's a super rad time and they have the cutest little gallery inside!

A Single's Guide to Valentine's Day

This will be short and sweet because without researching it, I'm almost positive that this topic has been dissected in every way imaginable. I just wanted to throw a few things out there to all my single ladies (and gents) that may help you get through the dreaded day that belongs only to couples.

First and foremost: get a pet. You will never wake up alone and you will never be loved more by anything else in the world. Here I am with Fanny. If only a significant other could look at me the way she does. (Fun fact: she is 100% blind).

Secondly: get a little festive. There's nothing wrong with wearing a pop of pink or red. I know it's tempting to really stick it to the happy couples and drown yourself in all black, but what does that really prove? The recent string of bad weather is depressing enough.

Third: if you feel overly inundated with cutesy couple pics and mushy love notes on Facebook, divert your eyes to something else. In my case, I took lunch to look at cute dudes with animals. It was fabulously mind-numbing and judging by the amount of cute dudes with animals (CDWA), I was not the first person to search. Another fun fact: there is a calendar dedicated to CDWA!

Lastly: try to find something fun to do on V-day evening. I know jumping into sweat pants and watching the Snapped marathon sounds great, but try to muster up some social interaction. I am lucky and was able to wrangle some friends together for a night of pizza, wine, and other snowed-in entertainment. If you cannot find any dateless participants, simply refer back to suggestion #1!

Crazy Cat Lady

So anyone who knows me, knows I'm completely obsessed with cats. I love my cats, shirts with cats, pictures of cats, conversations about cats, etc. This obsession started when I got my two little angels, Xena and Bowie.

I mean they are pretty much the most adorable animals on the planet. So, as a pet owner, I have become incredibly obsessive over all my babies. I would probably adopt many more kittens but my fiancé is not a fan of this idea. So instead, I spend lots of time on the internet finding awesome cat related things.
